#1 Dark Star Park<\/p>\n

Dark Star Park is the first major public art project that was created for Arlington County. Completed in 1984, this urban creation is a historical monument featuring large concrete spheres that resemble fallen stars. The spherical structures and towering black poles are positioned in such a way that on their shadows line up perfectly for one minute every year at 9:32 AM on August 1.<\/p>\n

#2 Alexander’s Island<\/p>\n

The Pentagon is located on a former island that changed locale from Virginia at low tide when it is connected to the mainland to Washington D.C. at high tide when the water floods the area and creates an island. There are boardwalks where visitors can explore the area and read educational plaques that the National Parks Service are set up along the path.<\/p>\n

#3 Arlington National Cemetery<\/p>\n

This U.S. military cemetery covers 624 acres with over 400,000 graves. There are many memorials and points of interest. This includes the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, JFK’s gravesite, USS Liberty Memorial, Confederate Memorial, and the Air Force Memorial. Visitors will be immersed in American history when they visit Arlington National Cemetery.<\/p>\n

#4 Potomac Overlook Regional Park<\/p>\n

If you need to get in touch with nature, visit Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Covering 67 acres of wild and cultivated land, this park features miles of trails for hiking, an Environmental Education Center, and even an outdoor summer concert series. Potomac Overlook Regional Park is the perfect place for friends and family to spend the day together.<\/p>\n
